great shoe, educated buyer response

| I tried on many shoes before settling on this Merrell. I am very particular about my footwear knowing that it will effect more than just my feet. Recently I have suffered from Plantar Fasciitis and when I wear these shoes all day, I have no problems. This is a trail runner/hiking shoe, so keep that in mind when buying. It is a stiffer shoe meant for stability, and it is made so you won't feel rocks and stumps through the sole. It will not feel as 'squishy' and flexible as a road running shoe. We recently hiked all day for several days in a row, climbing up rocks, over and around trees, through water and rain, and for part of the day I carried a 30 lb child on my back. These shoes made all the difference. My feet were tired, as expected, but not sore. I didn't experience any back or heel pain and my feet stayed dry. I'm very happy with these shoes! | |

| I was diagnosed with a foot problem which would be aggravated by walking and mild hiking. Since we had scheduled a trip to Alaska, and knew there would be walking and hiking involved, I had to find something to support my foot. This shoe was the answer. I took another pair of good athletic shoes with just in case but never put them on. I was comfortable for the entire 2 1/2 weeks and never experienced one bit of foot pain. I am buying another pair just to have on hand. I wear these shoes all the time. This is a great product. An yes, they are waterproof. The only complaint is they tend to be slippery on smooth wet surfaces, have had the same problem with some of my athletic shoes in the past. | |
this shoe has been great!

| I have found this the perfect lightweight shoe for my job. I am a gardener by trade and my feet are very important to me. The gortex keeps my feet dry and the shoes are very breathable. i can do light digging and they have decent traction and don't weigh me down. I have been through about 4 pairs in the past 2 yrs. Two consecutive pairs each had 1 shoe where a bubble or bump formed under the ball of my foot and became very uncomfortable so i couldn't wear them anymore. Other than this occurance, they have been great for the spring, summer and fall months. I have wide feet and these fit very well and the sides are very supportive and stable. I even wear them to the gym. | |

I have owned 3 Merrill shoes and they have all fit my feet well. These are quite stiff and a bit heavy but since they are hiking shoes I had expected it and look forward to having them break in as I have read they will. Well constructed. I like the sturdiness of the shoe and the rock heel it makes walking quite nice. I bought them because of the low profile (below ankle) and have been happy with my choice. I have medium to wide feet and a high instep so I had ordered the wide and medium versions, but kept the medium width shoe. There is good depth in the shoe and toe box. They do make your feet look smaller - which other reviews noted.

I have to say--I think this shoe runs absolutely true to size. I was measured recently, and was surprised to learn that I\'m a 7 1\/2 wide. I\'ve always managed to make a 7 1\/2 or 8 work. I originally went with an 8 in this shoe after reading the reviews, but had to return and found that the 7 1\/2 wide fits perfectly. The only bummer is that Bridle is the only color that comes in wide widths. I have not worn them in the rain yet, but have high hopes, based on other reviews.

| I bought these for a trip to Scotland (very wet place) that is coming up in 2 weeks. I have always loved Merrell shoes and found them comfortable from the word go. I found these a little more difficult to break in, very stiff. I'm sure that has to do with the gortex. But, once I worked out the stiffness they are as comfortable as all my other Merrells. I have not had a chance to test out how waterproof they are... | |

| I bought the Siren Sport to go on a four day trek and was not disappointed. The shoes were great on the terrain, which ranged from dirt trail to steep rocky inclines/declines. The shoes had good traction and support. If I had been smarter/planned ahead more I would have broken them in a little prior to taking them on the long trek. Even so, they were still comfortable and durable. | |

I purchased the Merrell Siren Sport for my daily three mile walks. These shoes were more expensive than I'm accustomed to spending for sporty shoes, but the quality and comfort make them a good value. Right out of the box, the shoes were comfortable and provided good all-around support. I especially like the neutral earth tones which make my rather large 9.5 size feet appear less large.

| I am the manager of a horse farm. Working 11+ hours a day on my feet, on concrete, dirt paths, uneven terrain and walking through wet grass, I have no complaints about this shoe. It's totally waterproof, light weight, and very comfortable. Even at the end of the day my feet are not tired or sore. I love them. | |

Love these hiking shoes. There was a breaking in period fpr me since I have not worn such a stiff shoe with a thick sole in a long time. I ordered the 6.5 since that has been my size for years. Felt a tad tight till they were boken in. Great shoe for hiking. Wore for an Alaksa trip.

Live in the Pacific Northwest needed something to stand up to wet wet winters and spring. Had a pair of Merrell Chameleon XCR that lasted a long time, when those wore out decided to try these. I wore them almost every day for six months--fit was nice, kind of ugly but was waterproof. However, now the seams are separating or the Gore-tex has worn off (in six months), and water seeps in and I get wet socks. Time for a new pair, and not these again. Waste of money.

I bought these shoes almost a year ago. They are very comfortable but they are not waterproof. I wanted shoes to keep my feet dry on a usually 45 minute walk around the yard. They worked for a short while, but my feet get soaked now. Also, the fabric has started to rip along the seam of the inside toe area on both shoes. I usually love Merrells, but this pair did not work out.

These shoes are not worth the money. I've had these shoes exactly 1 week and already where the shoe laces near the toe, the stitching is coming out. I tried wearing them for all day comfort. No way. My feet felt worse by the end of the day. I had an older pair of Merrell's, but they discontinued this style. Bummer. I purchased these not from Zappos. Big mistake.

I wanted these shoes to be my go-to hikers for the warm rainy season in Japan, but even with inserts they hurt my feet after a couple of hours. And the 9 seems small. They're very stiff and hard, perhaps from the waterproofing? Even with thin socks they feel tight in the toe box, a problem I don't have with my four other pair of Merrells. Overall I found these cute but not worth the money.

| I had a pair of the Merrell siren sport, which I loved and I thought these were the same with a lining to keep the rain out. After I wore them awhile, I realized that they are a little too small for me. I also found my feet to feel hot and damp. | |

| I work in a greenhouse 10-12 hrs a day and need to have dry, comfortable feet. Bought these 5/16/09 and by June 09 the soles were coming apart from the top of the shoe, other than that I really like this shoe. I will be writing Merrell about this problem | |
