superior design | |

| Being conditioned to another brand of shoe, I was pleasantly surprised by the Acopa shoe. I use this shoe predominantly in sport routes or on trad lines with fewer pitches. I found that the rubber is sensitive in that it will stick with/without fully weighting the shoe. It's perfect for edging and stemming. The fit surpasses other shoes of this caliber because it is comfortable. It feels ergonomically designed for the foot in the curled position. In short, a shoe doesn't make the climber; but confidence in the performance of the shoe translates to confidence in performing on the crag. | |
Great all around shoes!

| Honestly these are great all around shoes! I have used them on wide and thin crack climbing, extensive slab and face climbing, and plenty of overhanging stuff too! The toebox is unique and fits my foot perfectly, you get that slight "curling" of the toes in the front that you want, but without much discomfort. Sounds like the 1-star reviewer had a lemon. I have read many reviews on these shoes and have gone through two pair so far, and I will be buying them again and again. | |

| I have always worn Five Ten..... But after today, I can't see myself wearing anything other than Acopa. The rubber is amazing, I've been amazed at how well I can smear, edge, and smedge in these shoes. Sizing wise......I wear a 10 street shoe and I went down a Full Size (9), Its a bit too tight..... For a Bouldering Fit Go 1 Size down from your street shoe, Sport Climbing Go 1/2 Size down.....If your a Trad/Big Wall kinda guy get your street shoe size. | |
Expensive, but worth it

| Great shoe. It is great for edging, cracks and smearing. The shoe stays on your foot where it is at, no rolling or twisting. I was originally looking to get some scarpas, however the rubber was not as thick or grippy. The only con is that they are uncomfortable, but they are rock climbing shoes so how comfortable can they be. | |

| Once again Acopa gets it right. Precise fitting shoe for technical climbs in the sport range. Shoe does not move on your foot, rubber is scary sticky, love the construction. Built solid. | |

Not worth the money | |

| The rubber delaminated from toe on second day of climbing. These shoes are EXTREMELY uncomfortable, even for high performance shoes, and I bought them fairly loose. Bottom line is don't waste hard earned cash on low quality shoes. | |

| I bought my Spectres in Dec '08 as a backup/replacement to my beloved La Sportive Barracudas after a friend (who loves Acopa Enzos) recommended them to me and after I saw their Best in Gear review from Rock and Ice. While "comfortable" isn't exactly how I would describe the shoes, the sizing is accurate--they fit as they should. Since I purchased the shoes, I've climbed in them indoors and outdoors on limestone and sandstone sport routes around the Midwest. They even made a trip with me to Paklenica National Park and the Marjann Peninsula in Croatia. I'm a mid-5.11 range sport climber and usually climb 2-3 times a week and get outdoors at least once a month. The Spectres are just now beginning to show signs of wear (although I have alternated climbing in them and my Barracudas). I think the Spectres perform adequately for smearing slab and hooking overhangs. I rarely crack climb, but I think the construction of the Spectres makes them better suited for that than my Barracudas. However, my Barracudas easily out-perform my Spectres for edging and toeing. The Barracudas are flimsy, but are sensitive and feel like second-skin whereas the Spectres are solid and feel like, well, shoes. As a result, the Spectres are much less sensitive and feel more bulky than the Barracudas. Which is unfortunate because the Spectre is designed to be a sensitive, edging shoe. And while the official specs say the Spectres are lighter than the Barracudas, the Spectres feel heavier to me on my feet. So while I have enjoyed these shoes and climb in them fairly regularly (even exclusively for a few weeks while I had the Barracudas re-soled), I prefer the Barracudas and think if I were to buy another pair of shoes, it would be something other than Spectres. It's a good shoe and may work well for others, but is nothing stellar to me and did not live up to my expectations. | |

| SO, can't really say much on the fit due to the fact that they didn't. I wear a size fourteen street so I thought that a 13 would be fine; however, a huge difference in between a shoe stretching a half size and a full is if it is CANVAS LINED!! If your looking for a shoe that will give a little more go with a leather unlined one. Good luck! | |
